Overwhelming!!!!!

So we went shopping today. The goal. …find foods that were nightshade and gluten free. First we went to Whole Foods. They had only a small selection of gluten free, most of which used potato starch.  Since nightshades are an issue, those are not options. They didn’t even have gluten free premade bread. When we asked where there tomato free ketchup and pasta sauce were, which their website indicated they had,  we found out that they do not carry it.  The response specifically was “you will have to make it. ”

Completely disappointed, we left and went to Trader Joes. I did find a dijon mustard that did not have paprika so I was thrilled! !!!!! I also found a loaf of bread that does not use potato starch. Unfortunately, they had no tomato free sauces and there lay out was confusing and frustrating.  We bought the GF bread and nightshade free mustard and left.

Then we went to Harris teeter. They had a better selection than bothprevious stores.  The only issue is many gluten free things are not nightshade free.  This means I scour the labels. In never realized how many things have paprika in them.  I am what many call an extreme couponer. I can get in and out of a store in less than 20 minutes will a cart full of goodies.  Today my husband and I spent 1 hour and 30 minutes in the store. ..looking at labels.  This was overwhelming.

A few things that have come from this.  Many people can’t appreciate the frustration and loneliness one with food allergies or intolerance goes through when learning to adapt unless you have the same issue. Two. ..I am going to make a tomato free ketchup. I will let you know how it goes. …
